TrafficCast

TrafficCast, founded in 1996 as a division of TranSmart Technologies, generates real-time and predictive traffic and travel time information for the entire United States. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, the firm provides current and predicted travel times for more than 450,000 miles of interstate highways, expressways, and major arterial roadways across the country. TrafficCast content is used by businesses in telematics, routing and dispatching, and other location-based consumer and commercial services.

Traffic is a highly dynamic phenomenon, and TrafficCast has developed the necessary dynamic algorithms for both evaluating and forecasting traffic patterns. By fusing historic traffic patterns, live traffic information, weather forecasts, construction, and event schedules with accident reports, TrafficCast provides ArcWeb Services users with traffic data, updated every 15 minutes, for all major roadways within the continental United States. The traffic data is integrated with major commercial map databases provided by Tele Atlas to facilitate viewing. The service can be used to provide alerts regarding traffic congestion and incidents along preselected routes and locations.
